Crypto Czar Explains Why XRP, Cardano, SOL, Were Mentioned In Trump's Announcement

Prominent cryptocurrency figure BankXRP (@BankXRP) recently shared a Bloomberg interview featuring White House AI and Crypto Czar David Sacks. There, he addressed speculation surrounding President Donald Trump’s announcement of a strategic cryptocurrency reserve.

The reserve includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano, prompting discussions about the government’s holdings and broader digital asset strategy.

BankXRP drew attention to Sacks’ remarks, particularly his statement that Trump highlighted XRP, Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), and other altcoins because they are among the top five cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.

Sacks stated, “I believe folks are overanalyzing this a bit too much,” suggesting that the inclusion of these assets may not indicate a deeper strategic intention.

David Sacks claims the sole reason 🇺🇸President Trump highlighted $SOL, $XRP, and other altcoins in his crypto stockpile announcement is that they rank as the Top 5 tokens by market cap.

Lack of Clarity on U.S. Crypto Holdings

During the interview, Sacks acknowledged uncertainty regarding the U.S. government’s cryptocurrency holdings. He confirmed that the government owns Bitcoin and likely some Ethereum, but noted that a full accounting is necessary.

He further emphasized the lack of a clear digital asset strategy in the past, stating that this has prevented the U.S. from fully capitalizing on the value of cryptocurrencies. The absence of transparency has fueled speculation, particularly regarding whether the government already holds XRP, Solana, or Cardano, as there has also been speculation on whether Trump holds XRP.

Trump’s decision to include these assets in the strategic reserve has also led some to question whether this signals an official recognition of their role in the future of digital finance.

Ripple’s Longstanding Vision for XRP

The discussion gained additional context when cryptocurrency commentator Amelie (@_Crypto_Barbie) shared a statement by Ripple in 2017 regarding XRP’s intended role as a reserve digital currency. Ripple had written that it was more committed than ever to making XRP the world’s reserve digital currency.

This historical perspective suggests that XRP’s inclusion in Trump’s reserve aligns with Ripple’s long-term vision. However, whether this move is a direct acknowledgment of XRP’s reserve potential or simply a reflection of its market standing remains open to interpretation.

Trump’s announcement marks a significant moment in the relationship between the U.S. government and digital assets. While the inclusion of Bitcoin and Ethereum was largely expected, the addition of XRP, Solana, and Cardano has drawn increased attention.

As Amelie noted in her post, while Bitcoin can remain the U.S. reserve cryptocurrency, XRP is reaching across the globe and may fulfill Ripple’s vision to become a global reserve currency.
