Elon Musk Tries To Buy Twitter
Elon Musk, as some of you may have heard, is on a quest to save free speech. Originally, Musk had expressed interest in starting his own freewheeling app to compete with Twitter in the marketplace of ideas but has since pivoted to trying to outright buy the platform.
After buying into the company with an aggressive share purchase — making him the largest shareholder of the social media giant — he went on to outright make a 43 billion dollar offer.
Though, apparently, his money is no good at the company that Jack Dorsey left in the fall. One of the reasons, according to the LA Times, is the offer appears to be another one of Musk’s cypher memes — the price per share offer is $420. Another is the company believes its worth at least 60 billion.
Regardless, it looks like Twitter, as of now, doesn’t appear to be in the Bond villain’s Musk’s grasp. So the dreams of Elon Musk “freeing” Twitter from its shackles and making it a utopian social media platform where free speech rules and dogecoins are the reserve currency appear to be fading.
However, Musk might have some options in the crypto world.

@elonmusk Elon if Twitter rejects your offer, then hit me up. Happy to build a decentralized one
— Charles Hoskinson (@IOHK_Charles) April 14, 2022
Charles Hoskinson, as he often does, decided to interject himself. “Elon if Twitter rejects your offer, then hit me up. Happy to build a decentralized one,” Hoskinson tweeted at Musk. Musk has yet to respond.
Hoskinson’s Twitter shots don’t always get responses, like that time he tweeted at Reese Witherspoon. But when he does get a response, it doesn’t go well, like that time with Mark Cuban.
Suffice it to say, Musk is likely to still have his sights still set on Twitter and isn’t going to take Hoskinson up on his generous offer. Not to mention, Hoskinson, in the past, has been vociferous critic of Musk’s beloved Dogecoin. Considering Musk’s trolling tendencies, any potential social media platform where Dogecoin isn’t the reserve currency is likely a non-starter.
