The Zilliqa blockchain network encountered disruptions on both September 27 and 29, halting block production due to critical system bugs. These issues caused the network to temporarily stop processing transactions, leading to concerns among users. On September 29, Zilliqa disclosed that a system bug had completely disabled the creation of new blocks, while users of ZilPay, the network’s browser wallet, reported difficulties accessing their funds.

Notably, on September 27, the network experienced a similar event where a bug significantly slowed down block production, but unlike the recent disruption, the earlier bug did not fully halt the network. Despite these efforts to restore operations quickly, the recurrence of the issue has raised concerns in the community.

Zilliqa Addresses Community Concerns

Responding to user inquiries on X, Zilliqa reassured its community that the team is actively working on fixing the bug. “The network was operational and working fine until it stopped producing blocks due to another bug last night,” the team explained. They are currently debugging the system and attempting to restore block production.

Amid this, Zilliqa clarified that these network issues are not related to its recent upgrade, which was designed to enhance speed and cross-chain compatibility. While the bug from September 27 was fixed within the same day, the more recent one appears to be more complex, delaying a full restoration of the network.

Zilliqa has since restored partial functionality for validators and is working on a permanent fix. Despite these setbacks, the platform continues to push forward with its long-term vision.
