XRPL 3.0.0 Upgrades Go Live – Node Operators Must Act

Key Highlights

  • XRPL 3.0.0 fixes bugs, improves ledger reliability, and adds developer tools like negative number support and better APIs.
  • Updates streamline node operations, improve AMM transactions, and reorganize the code, preparing XRPL for the upcoming lending protocol.
  • Ripple tests AI with AWS to analyze massive logs, aiming to speed up issue detection and improve network efficiency globally.

The XRP Ledger (XRPL), developed by the Ripple labs has triggered all Version 3.0.0 amendments, and node operators must upgrade immediately. RippleX announced the update on X, stating that failure to update could result in nodes being amendment blocked.

According to Ripples’ month-old blog post, the new rippled update fixes important bugs, improves technical functions, and adds tools for developers. It also corrects errors with tokens, escrows, and price data to make ledger records more accurate.

🔔All XRPL Version 3.0.0 amendments have been triggered for Mainnet adoption in 2 weeks.

If you operate an XRPL node or validator, it is critical that you upgrade your software to the current version to avoid being amendment blocked.

Version 3.0.0 brings new tools for devs, such as more information available in the simulate API and the ability to process negative numbers. Another modification in the ledger entry API ensures that no errors occur during the check of several entries.

Technical enhancements and core operations

Version 3.0.0 also improves how the ledger runs. AMM transactions and consensus checks catch errors more efficiently. Negative numbers are handled correctly, and order books load reliably when nodes start. These updates help prevent network slowdowns and make transaction records smoother.

Developers will notice big changes to the code. Modules are reorganized, signature checks improved, and transaction steps simplified. These updates make the code easier to work with and ready for future features, like the XRPL lending protocol.

The testing and build process has changed. Unit tests run on a new system, workflows are updated, and Docker builds run faster. CI pipelines now handle tasks and reports more reliably, reducing errors. Documentation is clearer, with typos fixed, simpler installation steps, and SHA-256 hashes for verifying downloads.

Lending protocol and institutional finance focus

This update follows Ripple’s roadmap from September 2025, which concentrated on utilizing XRPL as a ledger for traditional assets, targeting regulated financial entities. The roadmap introduced Lending Protocol, which is known as XLS-66.

As per the company blog post, it is distinct from other DeFi protocols as it is not built on smart contracts or collateral. Instead, it allows financial entities to verify creditworthiness offline.

The plan also added the Multi-Purpose Token (MPT) for handling complex financial products like bonds. They introduced tools for compliance, including Credentials for identity checks and Deep Freeze to block flagged accounts.

Adding to more upgrades, Ripple and security platform Immunefi partnered together to host a $200,000 “Attackathon,” which seeks out vulnerabilities in the soon-to-launch XRPL Lending Protocol. The initiative invites security researchers from around the world to probe the protocol’s code for vulnerabilities, helping ensure it is secure enough for institutional use.

Also noteworthy is the recent testing by Ripple on January 7 of AI with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Bedrock to analyze XRPL’s huge log files. Each node creates 30–50 GB of data, and the entire network produces 2–2.5 PB. Using AI could help find and fix issues faster, making the network run more efficiently worldwide.

The XRPL 3.0.0 update improves transaction reliability and prepares the network for institutional use. Updating nodes promptly avoids network interruptions, and developers get simpler, more organized tools. The changes also support handling real-world assets and the upcoming lending protocol.
