Staking ADA: Everything you Need to Know

What is Cardano?

Created in 2015 by computer programmer Charles Hoskinson, Cardano ADA is a blockchain network designed to deploy DApps. According to their website, the network has the tools and technology necessary for positive, progressive change around the globe.

Additionally, the network has a peer-reviewed research foundation and evidence-based steps. Cardano projects billions of pieces of data and is also the 1st network to implement Ouroboros (a PoS consensus protocol proven secure).

Unlike networks that use proof-of-work, the Proof-of-Stake networks like Cardano reduce costs, energy use, and faster transactions.

Importantly, Cardano has five building stages: foundation, decentralization, smart contracts, scaling, and governance.

ADA is the native token of the Cardano network.

Staking ADA

To stake Cardano ADA, one can use an on-chain wallet or Crypto exchange platform. Afterward, holders can earn rewards.

When users stake, they build the network’s resistance to attacks and make transactions stronger. Therefore, Staking contributes to the security and efficiency of blockchain programs.

How to Stake Cardano (ADA)

Here is a step-by-step guide on staking ADA using Crypto exchanges.

  1. Create an account on Crypto platforms, for example, Binance Smart Chain
  2. Buy and transfer Cardano tokens to a wallet( Binance supported wallet)
  3. On the Binance staling site, select Cardano
  4. Set a time frame for your stake, for example, 60 days
  5. Enter how much you would like to stake
  6. Select and click on the “Stake now” button and voilà! Start staking Cardano

Where to Stake ADA Tokens

Other than Binance, other great places to stake your ADA tokens include;

  • KuCoin– Preferred for token fixed rates
  • CEX.IO– Works best for users based in the United Kingdom
  • Crypto.com– For anyone new to the network
  • Yoroi– Most straightforward to use
  • Daedalus– Best for experienced users

Holding on to your Cardano ADA tokens means that you have stakes in the whole blockchain network equivalent to what you held. So basically, Staking grows your Crypto holdings over time.

When owners delegate their tokens to a stake pool, they validate new blocks and transactions. Resultantly, they become responsible for the security and governance of the PoS network.

What is Proof-of-Stake

PoS is a more advanced method than PoW (Proof-of-work) for Scalability and transaction speed.

Despite its early release, Proof-of-work could not solve the problem of Scalability, and it also requires extra energy. Energy miners use computing power.

Validators maintain Proof-of-Stake, on the other hand, through the process of “forging.” Computers don’t need to get special hardware or buy electricity; they simply stake the tokens.

For nodes to become validators, they need to lock some tokens to act as collateral.

Conclusion

In summary, Staking is beneficial as one can gain rewards from them. There are also many places to stake and simple ways to do it. Click here for more Crypto news.
