Logical DePIN: Nodes lead to improved latency

Crypto investment firm Canary Capital has officially entered the race to launch a spot XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF). It becomes the second company in just seven days to seek approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
In its <a target="_blank" href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2039505/000199937124013130/canaryxrp-s1_100824.htm">filing</a> on October 8, Canary Capital outlined its goal of creating an XRP ETF, aiming to provide investors with a seamless way to gain exposure to XRP without directly holding the cryptocurrency.
The firm stated that its proposed ETF would track the price of XRP using the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) CF Ripple index. This index a real-time benchmark designed to reflect the current market value of XRP. Importantly, Canary Capital stated that the fund would avoid using derivatives to monitor XRP’s price. Canary Capital’s filing closely follows a similar application from crypto asset manager <a target="_blank" href="https://thecoinrise.com/bitwise-officially-files-for-spot-xrp-etf-in-the-us/">Bitwise, which submitted its own bid for an XRP ETF</a> on October 2. If either company secures SEC approval, it would mark the first-ever spot XRP ETF, giving traditional investors an easier way to enter the XRP market through a brokerage account.
Despite the promising outlook, both applications face considerable regulatory challenges. The SEC is currently engaged in an ongoing lawsuit with Ripple, the issuer of XRP. The regulator alleges that XRP is an unregistered security and claims Ripple raised $1.3 billion through its sale.
This legal battle could serve as a significant roadblock for Canary Capital and Bitwise. Filings such as these show the industry onlooker that providers in the ETF space are keeping their eyes out for regulatory changes that could bring in new crypto offerings. This suggests to Stephane Ouellette, CEO of FRNT Financial, that whether or not such an approval comes along for XRP ETFs or crypto spot ETFs isn’t so important. In his judgment, it is far clearer that companies from the crypto space have a vital urge to extend their product suite.

<h2>Bitcoin Company Fold Preparing for NASDAQ Listing</h2>
While the final ticker is not yet revealed, expectations have it that Fold would list as “FOLD” once the SEC gives the go-ahead word.
Bitcoin company Fold was founded in 2019 and has emerged as one of the United States’ most rapidly expanding platforms for Bitcoin-based financial services. Some of its offerings include a cashback debit card that pays out rewards in Bitcoin, buying and selling Bitcoin directly through its app and options to earn Bitcoin rewards with regular spending and bill payments.
The company has positioned itself as a competitor to Block’s <a href="https://coincu.com/268596-cash-app-uk-shuts-down-after-6-years-of-service/" target="_blank">Cash App</a>, in part because it offers many of the same functionalities, including the ability to transact in Bitcoin and rewards based on cryptocurrency.
Fold has been on a high, processing more than $2 billion in volume and distributing upwards of $45 million in Bitcoin rewards across its lifetime so far. Currently, its corporate treasury holds upwards of 1,000 BTC. As it eyes the public market, it will join other major <a href="https://coincu.com/285715-spot-bitcoin-etfs-now-hold-5-bitcoin-supply/" target="_blank">Bitcoin</a>-holding public companies such as <a href="https://coincu.com/286025-microstrategys-bitcoin-strategy-boost-stock/" target="_blank">MicroStrategy</a>, which has amassed 252,220 Bitcoins, presently valued at approximately $15 billion.
<h2>Fold to Expand Bitcoin Services Amid Planned IPO Approval</h2>
The public listing announced for the first time in July, shows the ambition of Bitcoin company Fold for further scaling. with its product suite keeps changing. Recently, Fold added features like Bitcoin bill payments and purchase round-ups into Bitcoin. In case of success, the IPO will develop Fold’s leading positions in the aggressive Bitcoin financial services market.
While the SEC review is in process, if approved, Fold might soon join the snowballing lineup of crypto-focused firms going public.
