My name is Nikolay Shkilev, PhD
Firstly, I’m a serial entrepreneur with 25 years of experience in owning different types of businesses, ranging from e-commerce, FMCG, Fintech, medicine, and logistics to IT technologies. In parallel, I work as a mentor and advisor to help dozens of projects worldwide.

How and when did you get involved in crypto?

In 2017, a group of young programmers asked me, as an entrepreneur, to competently package their product, build a strategy, marketing, and business model for their ICO. In the beginning, I refused, because I had never worked with ICO before, but the guys turned out to be persistent and I decided to help them as an advisor for the sake of fun. They raised $36 million and word of mouth started, after which I had projects from all over the world from Japan, South Korea, all the way to the USA, Canada, France, Germany, and more. Over the years, I have helped more than 70 projects, and my team has helped more than 150 projects around the world.

What lessons have you learned during your professional journey?

Those serious crypto projects can only be done if you use the same mechanics as in real business. Everything should be at the highest level — a strategy, a clear business model, great connections and partnerships, real profits, real users, not bots. Hype, of course, is good, but this is a short-term phenomenon. Creating a product that will bring profit for many years is full-fledged and serious work.

How did you learn about the Genius Ecosystem

Connections are everything in this world.

One of the creators of the Genius Ecosystem is in my Private Business Club and told me about the idea and goals of the ecosystem. I liked it and decided to help too, to the best of my ability and the degree of my workload.

How would you describe Genius X? What features about Genius X drew you to the Advisory Program?

All of us, as businessmen, as investors, are looking for the best projects, ideas, and potential unicorns. Therefore, I myself am interested in watching projects at the initial stage, and if the project has great potential for scaling, I am happy to help achieve these goals.

How will you use your experience to support Genius X projects?

Over the years, I’ve helped countless projects and developed huge personal connections and partnerships with all industry leaders. The experience was both positive and negative, so I perfectly understand what works and what does not. Therefore, I can help, both from a strategic point of view, for the project, and for marketing, for listing on the exchanges, for technical support, for growth and promotion, plus a huge number of connections.

What would be the best advice you could give to a startup?

If you are making a startup, first of all, think about how to attract Users, not Investors! When you have real traction with a good DAU and MAU, a transparent and profitable business model, then investors themselves will line up for you. 99% of startups go the other way and are looking for money, not users, so they fail.
