In this interview, the CEO tells us about his career, plans, and what he brings to Genius X as an advisor.

Please introduce yourself: What’s your specialty and role in NMKR?

Hello. Patrick Tobler here, Founder and CEO at NMKR.IO. I’m driving our vision as well as the business and product development. As I specialize in computer science, I’m building NMKR as a Web3 and NFT infrastructure company to bring real-world utility for all blockchain needs. NMKR’s journey started in April 2021 as the best-in-class NFT minting-as-a-service provider in the Cardano NFT space. Since the founding of NMKR, we have minted over 1.5 million Cardano NFTs to date.

How and when did you get involved in crypto?

I got into crypto in 2017. Initially, Bitcoin interested me because it seemed like an innovative new technology. After thorough research, I then began to learn more about other crypto projects in the space and became particularly interested in Cardano. During my studies, I wrote my thesis on Cardano, and after seeing the potential, I identified the gap which led me to cater to the Cardano NFT space by building the first version of NMKR. Now we have a lot of amazing users who are passionate about decentralization, privacy, and the potential for crypto to change the world.

What lessons have you learnt during your professional journey?

The crypto space is very fast paced and forever changing so it’s important to be adaptable. I’ve learnt the importance of building a strong community around Web3 projects. It takes heaps of work to create change so it’s essential to have a supportive team and community. In a leadership position in crypto, you have to commit to personal growth to make informed and rewarding decisions. The key is always to be honest with yourself and stay true to what you believe.

What keeps me upbeat is that I get to work on something that I’m passionate about every day. Secondly, the ability to have a truly global impact with the power of blockchain technology is very motivating. Surround yourself with positive minded individuals, and you’ll go far.

How did you learn about the Genius Ecosystem

Since the Cardano community is tightly knit, strong brands in DeFi and Web3 quickly become known. I learned about the Genius Ecosystem from the community, and I was amazed by what they were doing in 2021. There were talks about Genius Ecosystem looking promising as the first concentrated liquidity DEX with a Yield optimizer on Cardano’s Plutus, but the ecosystem has quickly demonstrated that it’s able to exceed all expectations. The team is very talented, and they are changing the game.

How would you describe Genius X? What features about Genius X drew you to the Advisory Program?

The Genius X Advisory Program is a major milestone to bring more utility to the Cardano blockchain. I like the fact that they have a broad focus on different industries and dApps. The Advisory Program is an excellent way for NMKR to give back to the community and help budding founders grow. We’ll share our expertise with projects and connect them with best fitting opportunities whenever we can. Our vision is to drive Web3 adoption by onboarding millions of people. Therefore I see this membership as a great opportunity to solidify our commitment to building the necessary and much needed Web3 infrastructure with NMKR.

How will you use your experience to support Genius X projects?

Our team cooperates closely with a conglomerate of experts from a variety of backgrounds and industries. We’ll use our knowledge to introduce people and share our learnings. In this way participants of this program will be able to cherry pick our ideas or even make crucial decisions to do things differently and succeed. It would be great to meet project leads on a regular basis and see what ideas we can come up with together.

What would be the best advice you could give to a startup?

As a startup, you have to move fast and be very flexible. The key is to always be investigating your options. One of the advantages in Web3 is that you can quickly test different ideas and see what works. Don’t be afraid to try new things, and be bold enough to change course if something isn’t working. Additionally, it’s essential to have a strong team and community around you that believes in your ideas. Collaboration is fundamental, so grow your network and always reach out to experts in your area when you feel stuck. Get feedback from different people with various perspectives. Also, don’t forget to have fun along the way!
