Meet Genius Yield’s Team Marvin Bertin

Meet Marvin Bertin, our team’s Chief Scientific Officer, who’s applying his knowledge of DEX architectures and ML-driven yield optimization strategies to build Genius Yield.

First of all, please introduce yourself. How did you first get involved in crypto?

I am a Machine Learning/AI engineer from San Francisco with years of experience working in biotech working towards an FDA approved early cancer detection blood test, using next-generation DNA sequencing. I got started in crypto as a senior consultant on the Ethereum and Cosmos blockchain developing DeFi products for clients. I have in-depth knowledge of DEX architectures and ML-driven yield optimization strategies. As a Cardano enthusiast, I have also been very fascinated by Cardano’s best-in-class PoS consensus algorithm and its bespoke UTxO-based smart contracts. For these reasons, I knew I wanted my next project to be on Cardano. Genius Yield plans to take full advantage of Cardano’s unique architecture, meaning DeFi will not just be better on Cardano, it will provide functionalities not possible on other blockchains.

How and when did you start working with Genius Yield? What’s your role?

I joined the team during the seed funding round when Genius Yield was just a pitch deck and a bold vision. I am the Chief Scientific Officer and I co-lead with Dr. Lars Brünjes (CTO) our R&D at Genius Labs. Genius Labs is behind the development of a unique concentrated liquidity DEX, similar to Uniswap V3, but based on an Order Book exchange (as opposed to an AMM). This unlocks tremendous capital efficiency and functionalities like limit orders and other sophisticated order types. But our main product is an AI-powered Liquidity Management protocol that algorithmically automates trading strategies to maximize users’ APYs while minimizing risk exposure.

If you had to say in your own words, what is the main purpose of this project? What problem does it solve?

Democratize DeFi for everyone. The current DeFi world is too complex. Genius Yield was designed to address the complexity of navigating yield opportunities in DeFi. Our mission is to make DeFi easy for everyone by providing at your fingertips best-in-class automated liquidity management, powered by AI.

Genius Yield’s native token is $GENS. What’s your favourite use case that you see come to life in the future?

I’m really excited about our Smart Swaps protocol. Smart Swaps are to the DEX what smart contracts are to the ledger. They are buy/sell orders that automatically execute based on some programmable logic. Smart swap allows for incredible flexibility and modularity with the potential to provide sophisticated trading functionalities such as limit orders and new concepts like Dynamic Orders and Algorithmic Orders. Down the line, we also want to allow users to construct their own custom trading strategies by combining Smart Swaps together with a lego-like composable interface similar to Marlowe.

How different is GeniusYield from other DeFi projects you’ve worked on or invested in?

Genius Yield is a product of rigorous research, built by industry leaders. The Genius team has taken a first principle approach to smart contract design. As such, our DEX and Yield Optimizer protocols have been designed from the ground up to fully benefit from Cardano’s UTXO-based architecture. Genius isn’t just best-in-class, it is the first DeFi platform in the industry to combine a concentrated DEX with a liquidity management system.

In addition, with the Genius Academy we also aim to give back to the community by teaching the fundamentals of crypto, DeFi and finance to empower individuals to make better-informed decisions and achieve financial freedom. Down the line, the academy will be a platform led by the community where industry experts and guest speakers come together to coach the next generation of DeFi enthusiasts.

Without speculating too much… What’s your target TVL for the ISPO and target price for $GENS in the next year?

I am a builder, not a trader, so I will leave price predictions to professionals. Our goal as a team is to execute on our vision and deliver excellent products loved by our users. We are confident that our unique product can make us a leading DeFi project on Cardano.

Genius Yield ISPO basics

GENS Rewards: 10 Million GENS

Running for 36 Epoch (1 epoch = 5 days)

Accumulated GENS rewards will be airdropped to the delegator’s wallet after the Token Genesis Event (time of minting). ADA holders will be able to delegate their funds to a stake pool in exchange for staking rewards. To participate in the ISPO you will simply need to delegate to Genius Yield’s’ stake pools. In return, you will be rewarded with GENS tokens based on the amount of ADA staked and the length of staking.
