Lace and Eternl present ADA Handle Personalization

We’re beyond excited to announce our official collaboration with Lace and Eternl! With the implementation of CIP-68 on Cardano, Handles will become a beacon for on-chain identity via Personalization but with that means a new way of implementing the Handle Standard. Current implementations will need to slightly change in order for dApps to fully enable the power of Personalized Handles, and leading the charge is Lace and Eternl!

dApps will still be able to resolve Handles via CIP-25 but will not be able to provide users a full Personalized experience without CIP-68 resolution. For a breakdown of the new version for resolving CIP-68 Handles please review this cheat sheet.

Handle Personalization

Handle Personalization is a brimming feature that brings so many new and exciting opportunities for dApps, wallets, NFT projects, PFP Holders, and most of all Handle owners to take advantage of. If you aren’t caught up yet on Personalization please read our Intro to Personalization and our Personalization 101 articles where you can learn more about the importance of on-chain identity and the specifics of how you’ll be able to customize a Handle!

Within these articles we articulate how unbroken personalized experiences can for the first time exist across different dApps on Cardano. For the first time you’ll be able to go from the Handle Designer -> Lace -> Eternl -> [name_your_dApp_here] all while your Handle-powered on-chain identity persists.

Eternl

Eternl is currently the go-to Cardano light wallet and boasts a thorough data-driven web, browser-extension and even mobile experience. Eternl currently already resolves Handles in their CIP-25 version as do most Cardano wallets but are among the firsts in upgrading their wallet experience with the new personalized CIP-68 version of Handle resolution!

Eternl is also bringing forth some incredible new features to their wallet along with a major codebase overhaul that will bring lower memory usage and database sizes while also boosting sync times multiple-fold all to create a more seamless wallet experience! Eternl will also bring a few new features, one among them being Cardano Connect, a P2P connection method for wallet users, so web users can connect with mobile users and vice versa; and yes this means even iOS users will be able to connect to anything!

Lace

The IOG-backed Lace wallet is the new behemoth on the block and comes with a robust and intuitive feature set that aims to bring everyone to Web3. The Lace platform will boast many services that aid users in financial autonomy and data sovereignty across the globe. Along with this version Lace will also be among the first to implement the new CIP-68 resolution of Handles on their platform, coming soon! Lace also unveiled the much-requested feature of multi-address support for their wallet which allows multi-address Cardano wallets to recover in Lace, and seeing full balances.
