MAYZ is a decentralized finance protocol that aims to simplify the challenges of managing a well-diversified portfolio in a fast-evolving ecosystem and bring Cardano exposure to a wide range of different investors. Why MAYZ? MAYZ is building a decentralized finance protocol that aims to bring Cardano exposure to a wide range of different investors. For years Cardano’s community has struggled to bring ERC-20 protocol and others blockchain users to the Cardano ecosystem. MAYZ has another strategy; we will bring Cardano to other blockchains. Currently, non-Cardano users can only get exposure to the Cardano ecosystem by holding ADA on centralized exchanges or wrapped ADA. Even though the simplest way to get exposure to an ecosystem is to hold its native currency, we think a better way is to hold an index that represents the whole ecosystem in a weighted asset manner.

<img class="image_resized" style="width:680px;" src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:700/1*rJ-mJPkAmt4_mNNIf0lKmA.png" alt="" loading="eager">As we embark on the dawn of the Web3 decentralized future, our vibrant Latam Cardano community, found ourselves as an integral part of this pioneering journey — the establishment of the world’s first Decentralized Government on a Blockchain.The road was long and arduous, filled with enlightening debates and endless learnings, but it led us to a single, critical point: the global <a href="https://github.com/JaredCorduan/CIPs/tree/voltaire-v1/CIP-1694">CIP1694</a> workshop in the historic city of Edinburgh, Scotland, on July 11th and 12th. It was there where all our efforts found its peak.<img class="image_resized" style="width:680px;" src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:700/1*cH7yK2ofkYE2YNNWB1BWeQ.jpeg" alt="" loading="lazy">July 12th 2023, Cardano CIP1694 Global Workshop at Edinburgh, ScotlandBut let’s rewind a little. Our journey started last November, in 2022, when the Voltaire era was announced in <a href="https://cardano.org/">Cardano</a>, as the era where the blockchain's evolution will become 100% decentralized, by giving the Cardano community the technical and social mechanisms to be able to implement an on and off chain Government. Later in that year, that announcement took the form of a formal proposal, the CIP1694 (CIP stands for Cardano Improvement Proposal) which is a formal document that aims to define, openly and with the community contribution, the first steps into that decentralization journey.This proposition inspired us, but we noticed an unnerving silence from Latin America into the formal discussion. Recognizing that the success of a decentralized government lies in diversity and inclusion, the <a href="https://linktr.ee/latamcardano">LATAM Cardano Community</a> created an ambitious initiative to produce the proper local spaces to drive active participation and involvement by the LATAM community into the global CIP 1694 conversation.So we initiated a series of in-person workshops across the continent, with pioneers from twelve vibrant cities in our region: from BuenosAires' bustling avenues to Mexico City's ancient charm, Caracas' tropical fervor to Bogota's highland allure, La Cumbre's tranquility and Manizales' verdant beauty to Tlaxcala's cultural heritage, Puerto Madryn's coastal charm to Santiago's historic majesty to Rio Cuarto's scenic beauty, La Plata's eclectic appeal to Sao Paulo's metropolitan dynamism.<img class="image_resized" style="width:680px;" src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:700/1*p7yzSOX-KlHh7SOgSEfcqQ.png" alt="" loading="lazy">Our rallying call was answered with enthusiasm by more than 137 people that were part of those workshops, and by June 2023, we’d united representatives from each city in the serene surroundings of Punta del Este, Uruguay. Here, we distilled our shared knowledge, unique perspectives, and collective aspirations into a comprehensive <a href="https://latamcardano-my.sharepoint.com/:b:/g/personal/hola_latamcardano_org/ESijD3iRWHRCpJpKV8oCf_4BSSR0JUjCAnlA6DfMPNF2xg?e=as3FWW">document that we shared</a> with the global community.<img class="image_resized" style="width:612px;" src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:612/1*dAvvmHC4Ik3nt_k6oQl40w.png" alt="" loading="lazy">Fast-forward to July, our delegation of seven members found ourselves journeying to the historic city of Edinburgh in the unique landscapes of beautiful Scotland. We were invited by <a href="https://iohk.io/">IOG</a>, <a href="https://cardanofoundation.org/">Cardano Foundation</a>, and <a href="https://www.emurgo.io/">Emurgo</a> to participate in a global workshop designed to bring the insights from all the workshops held across the globe, to common ground aiming to reach a compromise for the first Minimum Viable Government. The event was attended by around 70 individuals from all continents, making it a truly global gathering of minds with a multicultural background.The grandeur of the setting was the perfect occasion for top executives from the entities driving Cardano today, to work hand in hand with the community. Between those execs that graced the event, we want to highlight <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/tamarahaasen/">Tamara Haasen</a>, President and <a href="https://twitter.com/IOHK_Charles">Charles Hoskinson</a>, CEO both from IOG and <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/kenkodama/">Ken Kodama</a>, CEO and <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/amarpreetsingh2/">Amarpreet Singh</a>, COO both from Emurgo. But execs are not the only ones to highlight as there were many individuals putting an enormous passion and effort into making this workshop a success and making the atmosphere, one that's suits perfect for the challenge, the success of the gathering was mostly to the work of people, that unfortunately is impossible to mention all, but we would like to recognize some of them by their active interaction with the community <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/sheldonhunt/">Sheldon Hunt</a> leading the community's efforts and insights, <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/joanna-z-rhoden/">Joanna Rhoden</a>, putting together and amazing event, <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/nigel-hemsley-433a213/">Nigel Hemsley</a>, leading the Governance initiative within IOG, <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicolas-cerny-892754193/">Nicolas Cerny</a> providing good insights from the different communities from Cardano Foundation and finally the two CIP main writers <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/matthias-benkort-47186a57/">Matthias Benkort</a> at CF and <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/jaredcorduan/">Jared Corduan</a> ex IOG.There were also many well known Cardano's community members from all over the world and we cannot highlight quite enough how important was to have their insights, their point of view, their arguments and well worked proposals representing amazing communities that have been around since day one, and have demonstrated humongous passion for Cardano and its future.Over the course of two days, we found ourselves engaged in rich discussions, surrounded by fellow passionate and enthusiastic innovators and thought leaders in the Blockchain and Web3 spaces. The buzz of ideas and energy was palpable. Our task was to bring forth the voice of Latin America, delivering the collective insights we’d gathered from our regional workshops, what we did over three stage appearances from our very passionate representatives.<img class="image_resized" style="width:680px;" src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:700/1*JKuuaMk6-3SdDpHY_Dz_fg.jpeg" alt="" loading="lazy">We were able to present our idea of a Minimum Viable Constitution, that needs to be developed in parallel to the technical efforts, as it is vital to set the purpose of what we are doing, also the CIP should recognize the supremacy of the constitution over any other document preceding or following its enactment.Also got to explain our idea that taking a clear and safe position by guarding the Cardano treasury while we walk the first steps of the MVG it is of outmost importance, creating a limit on both the amount of funds per period of time as well per proposal that are allowed to be requested via a governance action. Limits that can be raised or loosen after some iterations and insights happens.Many of the concepts presented by the LATAM team were latter mentioned and highlighted by many people in the room, leaving us with the sense that we have not only been listened, but rather allowed to contribute a lot, fruit of our structured, diverse and multi cultural hard work approach.The discussion on the tables were very interesting, ranging from how to allow a voting mechanism that does not block the performance or the cost of the blockchain, towards how we can avoid bad behaviors, e.g. aimed at blocking the governance by flooding it with proposals. And how to do that without sacrificing inclusivity and diversity. There were some discussions that come to a consensus, and other that were better left for a further discussion and analysis.The road to create a powerful, safe yet flexible and inclusive governance mechanism is not one of a single workshop or debate, and as it was said during the workshop our aim shall be to land the technical mechanisms for onchain governance during 2023, to let the social and off-chain mechanisms be guided and debated in parallel towards 2024, as it is a more complex debate.The setting in Edinburgh served as a testament to the convergence of history and future, traditional and innovative, much like our mission. Our Global Voyage: Contributing to the Evolution of the Cardano Blockchain Decentralized Governance

En <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/argentina">Argentina</a> se está desarrollando un protocolo basado en la <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/red">red</a> <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/cardano">Cardano</a>, con la finalidad de aglutinar varias protocolos en un sólo instrumento de <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/investments">inversión</a>. Se trata de Mayz Protocol. Para conocer más detalles, <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/cointelegraph">Cointelegraph</a> en Español conversó con Diego Mack, quién está detrás de esta iniciativa.Lo primero que quisimos indagar fue el nacimiento del proyecto. “Surgió del ingenio de tres argentinos, con la intención de hacer realidad algo diferente a lo que hasta el momento se hace en <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/defi">DeFi</a>”, explicó Diego Mack.&nbsp;Están desarrollando un proyecto denominado MAYZ, con la finalidad de aglutinar los protocolos que se desarrollan en el ecosistema Cardano en un solo punto o fondo de inversión. En este sentido, comentó que están llevando a Cardano “el concepto del SP500”.&nbsp;<ul><li><a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/news/they-highlight-some-improvements-that-could-be-implemented-within-the-cardano-network">Señalan algunas mejoras que podrían implementarse dentro de la red de Cardano</a></li></ul>El primer producto que está desarrollando MAYZ Protocol se llamará Cadano Index. “De la misma forma que el SP500 aglutina a 500 empresas que cotizan en la bolsa de valores de <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/united-states">Estados Unidos</a>, el Cardano Index estará compuesto por los 20-30 protocolos más representativos del ecosistema de Cardano”, aseguró.En la conversación, dijo que los inversores tienen, en principio, dos formas de participar en la bolsa. La primera es una compra sobre las acciones directas de la <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/business">empresa</a> que elija el inversor, y la otra un poco más conservadora es invertir directamente en el índice SP500.&nbsp;Cada una de estas elecciones son responsabilidad de cada inversionista, pero, con la creación de este Cardano Index que está en pleno desarrollo actualmente, “el inversor también tendrá que tomar la decisión de participar en el Index, que es una suerte de pool de inversión, o por el contrario, seguir participando con cada protocolo en particular del ecosistema Cardano según sea su decisión”.<ul><li><a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/news/blockchain-security-firm-freezes-160k-stolen-in-merlin-dex-rugpull">Una empresa de seguridad de blockchain congela USD 160,000 de los 2 millones que fueron robados en el “rug-pull” del DEX Merlin</a></li></ul><h2 style="margin-left:0px;">Cómo está compuesto el proyecto</h2>La idea procura la creación de un instrumento financiero que agrupe los principales protocolos que se desarrollan actualmente en Cardano. De esta manera, el inversor podría participar en todos los protocolos con un sólo instrumento.&nbsp;Mack detalló: “El proyecto cuenta con 3 etapas, la primera es la creación del Index de Cardano”.&nbsp;La primera fase está actualmente en curso y consiste justamente en desarrollar los <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/smart-contracts">contratos inteligentes</a> necesarios para el “Cardano Index” en el que van a estar varios de los principales protocolos de Cardano (Liqwid, MuesliSwap, Meld, Aada, MinsSwap, WMT, por nombrar algunos).&nbsp;Al ser basado en&nbsp; finanzas descentralizadas, los desarrolladores del proyecto expresaron que “será sin custodia y 100% permissionless (es decir que no necesita permiso para ser usado)”.&nbsp;La segunda etapa de desarrollo del proyecto está basada en la capacidad de que cualquier usuario podría generar el Índice que mejor le parezca. Esto solo será posible gracias a que el protocolo MAYZ está pensado para ser 100% permissionless.En términos concretos, si un usuario (por ejemplo) prefiere crear un fondo dentro del protocolo con los tokens nativos de los <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/cryptocurrency-exchange">exchanges</a> descentralizados, lo podría hacer, y por ende, sufriría la exposición de esta inversión que ha creado.&nbsp;Sin embargo, la creación de este índice será independiente del Cardano Index. En este caso el usuario estaría haciendo las veces de “gestor de fondos”, rol que en finanzas tradicionales queda reservado para unos pocos.Para esto, resultará necesario que el usuario tenga en su poder tokens nativos del protocolo (MAYZ), que llevará el mismo nombre que el protocolo. De tal manera que, con esta iniciativa, van a incentivar a que los usuarios de MAYZ protocol, lleguen a crear los índices que consideren necesarios, procurando la diversificación dentro del protocolo.&nbsp;Mack aclaró además que este token nativo del protocolo MAYZ será un token de utilidad más que de gobernanza. Y si bien es cierto que será utilizado para la gobernanza del protocolo, su función principal es la utilidad para poder emplear las funciones que prestará el protocolo“El proceso que se tiene planteado para la creación de cualquier fondo es simple, primero que nada tener los tokens MAYZ, y posteriormente ponerlos en <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/staking">staking</a>, esto convierte al usuario en gestor de fondos de ese índice”, puntualizó.La tercera etapa de desarrollo del protocolo es llevar el índice a otras <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/blockchain">blockchains</a>, es decir que sea cross-chain, y que a través del uso de <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/smart-contracts">smart contracts</a> y bridges pueda el usuario estar en la red <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/ethereum">Ethereum</a>, <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/polkadot">Polkadot</a>, <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/algorand">Algorand</a>, por nombrar algunas de las blockchains a las que quiere llegar MAYZ Protocol.&nbsp;Es decir, en su tercera versión, el objetivo de MAYZ Protocol será traer a Cardano liquidez, y al mismo tiempo busca captar usuarios desde otras blockchains. Por ejemplo, se busca que los usuarios de Ethereum puedan tener exposición al ecosistema de Cardano sin ser expertos en Cardano; incluso haciendo toda la operatoria desde su blockchain de preferencia (en este ejemplo, Ethereum).<h2 style="margin-left:0px;">¿A quién va dirigido?</h2>El público al que apunta este desarrollo es el ecosistema de Cardano. En la fase 1 y fase 2 del proyecto, solo los usuarios de la red Cardano podrían ser capaces de interactuar con el protocolo MAYZ. Sin embargo, Diego adelantó que “para 2024 o 2025, según la hoja de ruta se siga cumpliendo, será lanzada la fase 3 del proyecto, en el que, sí será más abierta la participación como se ha indicado, a través de puentes que logren conectar las diferentes blockchains”.&nbsp;<h2 style="margin-left:0px;">Compatibilidad de Billeteras</h2>Diego Mack expresó que el protocolo será compatible con las principales <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/wallet">billeteras</a> de Cardano, lo que también apunta a un público importante de usuarios, ya que desde cualquier <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/wallets">billetera</a> que soporte la red podría acceder al protocolo MAYZ y de esta manera, adquirir los tokens si desea ser gestor de fondos o participar en el Cardano Index que está desarrollando MAYZ.&nbsp;<ul><li><a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/news/brc-20-tokens-surpass-1b-market-cap-as-wallet-providers-prepare-integration">Tokens BRC-20 superan la capitalización de mercado de USD 1,000 millones mientras proveedores de billeteras preparan su integración</a></li></ul><h2 style="margin-left:0px;">Planes a futuro de MAYZ</h2>Mack dijo que este proyecto es 100% <a href="https://es.cointelegraph.com/tags/latin-america">latinoamericano</a>, y que viene a otorgarle a Cardano algo que no tiene: “Esa nueva posibilidad de hacer las veces de gestor de fondos o bien poder invertir en un fondo bien diversificado de los principales protocolos de Cardano”. Consideró que incluso a futuro podría ser una herramienta para que usuarios de otras blockchain se acerquen a Cardano.De la misma manera, contó que planean lanzar un MVP. Tell us something about yourself, where are you based and what is your background?</h3>First of all thanks for this interview and for the interest shown in FALCO and the projects we are developing. My name is Mat&iacute;as and I&rsquo;m from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Currently I&rsquo;m based in Melbourne, Australia. I am a Senior Tech Lead and Backend Engineer with 12+ years of experience in IT development and production support in the Banking Industry. I work as Blockchain Engineer for an Australian company, where I am responsible for researching, designing, implementing and supporting all blockchain-based solutions using mostly Algorand.I am Founder &amp; Operator of Falcon Stakepool, a pool that leads many different initiatives in the Cardano space, being ALDEA the main one, as it represents the values &#8203;&#8203;that we want to encompass and aims to generate greater participation by the Spanish-speaking community.<h3>What&rsquo;s the path that led you to Cardano and to become a Stake Pool Operator (SPO)?</h3>It&rsquo;s been a long ride, for sure. At first I got interested in blockchain technology around 2019, and I decided I wanted to reorient my efforts into this industry. I became an SPO in October 2020. I learnt about Cardano after reading about Blockchain 3.0, and got captivated by the idea of building a new financial system.&nbsp;I immediately fell for its mission and wanted to do as much as possible to support the network. I found the perfect opportunity to do so by creating the first Stake Pool 100% dedicated to promoting the adoption of Blockchain, cryptocurrencies and smart contracts in Latin America.&nbsp;<h3>You&rsquo;re working on several projects on Cardano, please introduce them and explain what they do.</h3>Stake pool operation is a business itself, with its own complexity, and my personal vision includes working on projects that raise awareness. Like any small business &ndash; and that&rsquo;s what this is &ndash; it requires clear objectives, and goals that add value to the community.I am actually working on <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://aldea-dao.org">ALDEA</a>, a DAO for Spanish speakers to collaborate and solve local problems. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://wallet.gamechanger.finance/">GameChanger</a>, which is in my opinion the best wallet for developers, entrepreneurs, students or anybody who wants to have a great user experience on the Web. I am also working on <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://mayz.io/">MAYZ Protocol</a>: a decentralised finance protocol that aims to simplify the challenges of managing a well-diversified portfolio in a fast-evolving ecosystem and bring Cardano exposure to a wide range of different investors.All these projects are 100% aligned with the mission and the vision of my pool, since they are focused on solving real problems to help people, with a particular focus on Latin America. And, as a recognition for all these contributions to the ecosystem, Falcon was selected by IOG on its Delegation Strategy, in May 2021, and in April 2022 we were selected again, this time by the Cardano Foundation.However, nothing can be achieved alone: I had the chance to work with a great team of SPOs, such as MOXIE, QXT, CHIL, WHITE, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://en.cryptonomist.ch/2022/07/24/cardano-spo-column-one-pool-one1/">ONE1</a>, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://en.cryptonomist.ch/2022/05/01/cardano-spo-column-topo-pool-topo%E2%9A%A1/">TOPO</a>, APOLO, PEACE, TANGO and ITZA, to name a few.<h3>You&rsquo;re committed to promoting the adoption of blockchain and smart contracts in Latin America, how is it going? Is Cardano gaining traction there?</h3>The adoption of blockchain and crypto in general I think is doing well in Latin America. Without a doubt, the most active community there is Ethereum&rsquo;s. Cardano is getting more traction but I think we won&rsquo;t see many use cases of its technology there until 2028.&nbsp;This may seem a pessimistic vision but I think it is more of a realistic one, since it is very early for Cardano: we are still defining the foundations of what we believe should be a much better and fairer system for everybody willing to take part in it. This is why more projects like our pool are what we need to raise awareness about everything that can be learned and achieved by using the Cardano network.<h3>Awesome. Any final words? Where can people find you?</h3>As previously mentioned, I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to share some of our work, as these kinds of opportunities are very important for small pools like mine.
