The contributions of the Italian polymath Gerolamo Cardano inspired the launch of Cardano in 2017. The introduction of the Vasil hard fork, along with the Ethereum merge, was an eagerly anticipated update for the Cardano team. Despite some difficulties encountered along the way, the hard fork was largely successful.

As the whole community was celebrating Valentine’s Day, the ADA team launched the upgrade. The Valentine upgrade (SECP) has now officially gone live on the Cardano mainnet on February 15, 2023. As the SECP upgrade is now live, here is what the upgrade is all about.
Cardano’s Valentine upgrade will enhance cross-function functionality
The initial proposal for the SECP upgrade was laid out in early February and received majority support from the validators.
“Interoperability is key for blockchain growth. “As more DApps are built on Cardano, it is essential that they are not siloed to just one ecosystem, enabling users to interact with different blockchains and access a wider range of services.”
The SECP upgrade will now provide the highest level of security alongside cross-chain interoperability.
The Valentine upgrade has been implemented to improve the secure cross-chain development of decentralized applications (dApps). Following the successful implementation of this upgrade, developers can now proceed with the development of dApps that can interact with other blockchains in a seamless manner.
