The CEO of Input Output Global (IOG), Charles Hoskinson, who is the creator of Cardano (ADA), recently described the newly released version of Cardano Node (v1.26.1) as “Pretty Significant.”
A couple of hours ago, Hoskinson took to Twitter to announce the release of the new version of Cardano Node. What is worth noting about the version is that the IOG boss described it as a significant release for stake pool operators (SPOs) on the Cardano network.

Here Is Why Cardano Node v1.26.1 is Pretty Significant for Stake Pool Operators (SPOs)
According to the release information shared on Github, the new version of Cardano Node comes with significant performance improvements and lots of other minor improvements and additional features.

The update says that the reward calculation pause has been removed. This is expected to significantly reduce the CPU load for relays that handle lots of incoming transactions.
The newly released version is also significant because it’s designed with the Alonzo era in mind.
The update reads in part as follows:
“The focus of the current development work is on completing and integrating support for the Alonzo era. This release includes many of the internal changes but does not yet include support for the new era.”
The update added that “This release will automatically perform a DB migration on the first startup after the update. The migration should take 10-20 minutes however it can take up to 60 minutes depending on your CPU.”

Additionally, the new version comes with a number of changes to Node, Consensus, Ledger, Network, Cardano-cli, and Cardano-api. Features such as code pertaining to the old IPC API and Support for GHC 8.6.5 have been removed in the latest version.
Below are the issues that Cardano Node v1.26.1 has fixed:
- Fix the rendering of Byron-era TxOuts to be consistent with the rendering for Shelley-era addresses.
- Fixed a performance regression in the Allegra and Mary eras. This resulted in node slowdown when validating failed transactions.
- Fixed a subtle bug in reward computations, where the wrong amount of money would be added to the treasury.
- Fix RTS options, which got accidentally corrupted in the previous release.
- Update the iohk-monitoring framework to fix a file descriptor leak.
- Fix an unevalutated thunk error in reward computation.
