Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has commended a fresh milestone within the Cardano ecosystem that promises to strengthen the multi-chain vision of the upcoming Midnight Network. Hoskinson described the new development as a “bedrock of cooperative economics” that could set the standard for future blockchain collaboration.
Paima Studios Rolls Out Hybrid DApp Prototype
Paima Studios, a key partner of the Midnight Network, announced progress on building hybrid decentralised applications (dApps) for Midnight. Co-founder Sébastien Guillemot revealed this initiative in a June 29 update, explaining how the feature will enable developers to create apps that can interact seamlessly across multiple blockchains.
— Sebastien Guillemot (@SebastienGllmt) June 29, 2025With Midnight launch coming, we're working hard to bring hybrid dApps: apps that combine multiple chains at once!

In the preview, Paima showcased its Paima Explorer, a prototype tool that highlights how different chains connect to a developer’s dApp. The explorer displays a primitive data dashboard and a state machine table that lets developers visualise how smart contracts change state based on data flowing in from various blockchains.
This hybrid DApp capability expands what developers can build on Midnight, moving the project beyond being just a privacy-focused sidechain for Cardano. It opens the door to wider cross-chain functionality at a time when multi-chain interoperability remains a top priority for blockchain builders.
Ethereum Compatibility and Zero-Knowledge Tech on the Roadmap
Paima Studios is no stranger to pushing technological boundaries. Earlier, the studio partnered with Midnight to bring Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility to the Cardano sidechain. This integration will enable Ethereum developers to deploy smart contracts on Midnight with minimal code changes, creating a smoother onboarding path.
Additionally, Paima plans to explore zero-knowledge (ZK) technology in the Web3 gaming sector, which could enhance privacy and performance for on-chain games. This direction aligns with Midnight’s core mission of enabling secure, privacy-preserving decentralised applications.
Hoskinson Sees New Explorer as a Catalyst for Crypto Collaboration
Charles Hoskinson responded to the update with strong praise for the Paima Explorer and its role in facilitating cross-chain decentralised applications (dApps). He labelled the new tool as one of the most critical pieces of infrastructure for blockchain’s next phase, alongside Midnight’s dual-token model and its planned capacity exchange.
Hoskinson emphasised that the industry needs to shift away from a zero-sum mindset and adopt cooperative frameworks that benefit everyone. This belief underpins his broader push for blockchain networks to collaborate rather than compete, thereby fostering innovation.
His recent outreach to Ripple executives for a potential partnership, as well as his push for Bitcoin DeFi integration on Cardano, further underscores this collaborative vision.

Midnight Promotes Unity with Multi-Chain Airdrop
Midnight’s cross-chain ambitions don’t end with hybrid dApps. The project will soon reward holders from different chains through its highly anticipated Glacier Drop. Eligible holders of XRP, Bitcoin, Solana, and BNB will receive Midnight’s native NIGHT token when the airdrop launches in July.
By including other major blockchains, Midnight demonstrates its commitment to building bridges across fragmented crypto ecosystems. This approach aims to attract developers and users from beyond Cardano’s core community, creating a more resilient and inclusive network.
Final Thoughts
Midnight’s new hybrid DApp explorer marks an important step for Cardano’s sidechain strategy. With Paima Studios leading the charge and Hoskinson’s endorsement, the project positions itself as a true multi-chain enabler. If successful, this cooperative model could inspire similar efforts across the industry, proving that crypto doesn’t have to be a zero-sum game.
