Cardano’s Vasil upgrade got delayed as IOHK announced, but in a blog post, a new timeline was revealed so let’s read more today in our latest Cardano ADA news.
The software company Input Output Global announced that Cardano’s Vasil upgrade is getting delayed after having a few outstanding items to run in a bid to ensure everything is working as they expected. The head of delivery and products Nigel Hemsley said the team will need a few more days to re-evaluate the latest status while the previous target date for the hard fork was slated for June 29:
“The IOG engineering team is extremely close to finalizing the core work, with just seven bugs still outstanding to complete the hard fork work, with none currently ranked as ‘severe’. After some consideration, we have agreed NOT to send the hard fork update proposal to the testnet today to allow more time for testing.”
IOH and Cardano Foundation collectively agreed on a new target date for the hard fork and upon completion, the expected timeline for Vasil to hit the mainnet will be in the last week of July. The decision came after rumors about a potential delay in the upgrade started floating around. While reporting to the news, Tim Harrison as the vice president of community and ecosystem said that while everything is progressing as planned, there were a few factors before the hard fork combinator happened. The main objective of the Vasil hard fork is to enhance the scaling by including pipelining that will improve the block diffusion but also the upgrade alls into the Basho era of Cardano’s development.
The Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson touted that the Vasil hard fork will be a major, major, major event.
As recently reported, The company behind Cardano, Input-Output announced the launch of an EVM sidechain alpha on the testnet but the layer-1 blockchain didn’t specify if such EVM compatibility will be deployed to the mainnet one day. IOHK tweeted that the initiative will enable the developers to build a solidity-based app on the Cardano network which means that Dapps developed on the ETH network can be seamlessly transferred to Cardano.
The Senior Content Editor at Input Output Global Eric Czuleger said the community believes in the interoperable future which allows different blockchains to communicate with each other and in regards to the latest deployment of the EVM Sidechain, he sees an opportunity to onboard new users outside of the Cardano community while not adding more complexity to the mainnet.
