Ted Cruz, who has been representing Texas in the US Senate stated, there are several flaws in the unworkable and devastating crypto provision in the infrastructure bill. Separate amendments have been filed to strike the whole thing. The cryptocurrency community and leadership are doing their part by acting now to stop this.
The community acknowledged that cryptocurrency is creating more jobs in Texas. The state will only gain with pro-crypto legislation.
The community is also wondering if crypto lobbyists have paid senators who are pro-crypto.
The cryptocurrency community is very clear that the whole crypto section should be scrapped. They feel that neither amendment is sufficient nor is it worded appropriately. They feel the provisions should be passed in a separate bill where there’s sufficient time to navigate the complexity and ensure appropriate language.
The infrastructure bill is focused on making billions in crypto taxes. The government needs to understand an industry before haphazardly trying to regulate it. Hence, the big tech hearings where sitting elected officials were still not sure how Facebook worked? And it is a lot more like that with the crypto confusion.
Senators are not even taking voicemails. Despite the community are applying maximum pressure. The community is unhappy for crypto to be dictated by misinformed incumbents.
Senator Cynthia Lummis expressed: “No votes tonight. We will continue working toward getting a vote on this vital amendment. Senate reconvenes tomorrow at noon. Thanks so much for everyone’s hard work toward getting the Wyden-Lummis-Toomey amendment passed.”
For now, it looks like the PoW coins are in trouble, but the game is not going to stop there.
For those senators who are supporting the crypto, the community is like: Senator. Even though you don’t know many of us, just know that we are so thankful for you and what you are doing. I’m sure these past few days have been really hard on a lot of people working on our behalf. Keep up the good fight!
For once, it feels like senators are helping the average person.
One enthusiast was like, I just contacted my senator, Jon Ossof, and sent him a letter I hope he will read. I lost my job during CoVid and found one in crypto. I’ve been working for the last 2 months on a project that will raise money long-term for wildlife/ocean conservation. Warner’s bill will kill that.
