You can pay with Cardano in this hospital

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano (ADA), took to Twitter announcing the launch of his new hospital called ‘Hoskinson Health & Wellness Clinic’ announced. The hospital will be fully operational from February, offering a wide range of medical services to its customers.

ADA as a means of payment

One of Hoskinson’s Twitter followers asked the mastermind behind Cardano if he could pay for the hospital with ADA. Hoskinson responded with a ‘yes’. The question of whether other cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin (BTC) and/or ethereum (ETH) can also be used as a means of payment remains unanswered to date.

According to the LinkedIn page of the company, the hospital currently employs about 10 employees and is looking to expand the workforce.

In July 2022, Hoskinson announced that he would be opening a restaurant and whiskey lounge in Wheatland, Wyoming. This is the city where he lives and according to him there was a lack of good options in this area. During the announcement, he already indicated that the restaurant is “crypto-friendly‘ will be, but few months ago confirmed he that ADA will be accepted as a means of payment.

Criticism of ignoring stablecoin

Earlier you could read in the Cardano news that the algorithmic stablecoin Djed will be launched on the Cardano network in January. The decision to make ADA a payment method at the new hospital was unsatisfactory for some people. According to them, Hoskinson should have opted for an alternative payment option such as cardano’s first decentralized stablecoin.

In addition to Djed, a new fully fiat-backed, regulatory stablecoin will soon be added to the Cardano ecosystem. This stablecoin is called USDA and will be backed by the US dollar. USDA is expected to launch on the network in the first quarter of this year.

It will therefore not be long before the arrival of two stablecoins on the Cardano blockchain and it remains to be seen whether Hoskinson will accept these coins at his companies, just like ADA.
