The Cardano network is constantly updating and implementing new features. The network will again undergo major changes in the year 2022. In this article we look at what will change and when the next update will be released.
What updates will take place in 2022?
At the end of 2021, the release of the Cardano ‘Guguen’ era took place. The Cardano Alonzo mainnet hard fork is also live and that means we have arrived at the next phase of the Cardano roadmap, the ‘Basho upgrade’.
The Basho era will ensure network scalability improves by adding side-chains to ease the pressure on the main-chain. It is expected to go live sometime in 2022.
However, the first real upgrade on the roadmap is the Vasil hardfork, which is expected to lower the cost of large transactions.
After the Basho era, Voltaire is the last phase of the network. This phase introduces a voting and treasury system that allows investors to have a more direct impact on the decentralized network as Cardano moves away from IOHK management.
In addition, the Cardano Hydra Layer-2 hopes to improve scalability by increasing the number of transactions per second on the network. Also, an algorithmic stablecoin called “Cardano Djed” will be launched later this year.
