Vasil Hard Fork On Track, Testnet To Launch By The End Of May, Says Cardano FounderThe Vasil Hard Fork, according to Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson, is still on track. The Vasil Hard Fork, scheduled for June 29, will bring significant improvements to Cardano and its smart contract platform, Plutus. IOHK suggests that the testnet could go live by the end of May.
Hoskinson is optimistic that the impending Vasil Hard Fork upgrade will bring “massive performance improvements to Cardano” and its smart contract capabilities.
CIP-31 (Reference Inputs), CIP-32 (Inline Datums), CIP-33 (Reference Scripts), and CIP-40 (Collateral Outputs) will be introduced in the future Vasil update, according to IOHK.
IOHK writes in its weekly development update that all hands are still on deck for the Vasil Hard Fork event in June. It mentions that pipelining tests and logging improvements have made progress.
The UTXO HD integration, which focuses on testing and issue resolution workflows, has already begun. Cardano claims to have redeployed eight IOG nodes and added 51 pre-registered SPOs to the P2P testnet in order to analyze testnet performance and offer comments.

In a chart provided, IOHK also offered statistics on network growth. Cardano now has 937 projects in development, up from 925 earlier. Cardano has recently released 84 projects, bringing the total number of NFT projects to 5,549. Github connections reached 2,609 this week, while Cardano native tokens reached 4.7 million.
