MIAMI COMMISSIONER JEFFREY WATSON COMMITS $200,000 FOR CRYPTO ADOPTION IN A LOW INCOME COMMUNITY
Miami, FL-- Oct. 29, 2021, Deploying his effort to introduce Little Haiti to the $2.4 Trillion crypto market, Commissioner Jeffrey Watson has formed partnerships with local crypto Little Haiti Coin ($LHTC) and Bitbasel.
As part of the partnership, Commissioner Watson awarded a $200,000 public grant to the #CardanoBeach program, Captain Haiti’s initiative to empower Little Haiti small business owners with the Cardano and public funds.
The program is to award 40 Little Haiti businesses with one-time assistance cash grants of $5,000 to help import Haitian products and make them available to tourists visiting Little Haiti.
Commissioner Watson highlights the importance of maintaining Miami's rich culture while integrating crypto. “Subsidizing 40 Haitian-centric goods with a $200,000 grant is my way to welcome crypto in Little Haiti without changing its DNA,” says Commissioner Watson.
“Little Haiti Coin is a social-economic crypto you receive in reward for sponsoring my ongoing cleanup efforts of Little Haiti. Now, thanks to the Commissioner, it is stimulating local businesses while supporting Haitian farmers back home,” says Captain Haiti, founder of $LHTC.
“The Commissioner's $200,000 contribution has already birthed a MOU between $LHTC, Logos
Capital and AgriLedger, proving the origin of verifiable Haitian commodities through blockchain,” says Silvio Pupo, Ambassador to the city of Miami and Chairman of Logos Capital.
Captain Haiti hopes #CardanoBeach’s projected success could be duplicated in other communities like Liberty City, Overtown and other disenfranchised neighborhoods of District 5 and Miami.
Commissioner Watson becomes one of the first public officials to subsidize a social program involving crypto technology, hoping to energize young voters ahead of the November 2nd election and bring real world value to crypto.
“I’m inviting the #CardanoCommunity to match the commissioner’s commitment of $200,000 by taking the #CardanoBeach Challenge. For each square foot you cleanup in Little Haiti, $1 will subsidize Haitian Farmers until the $200,000 is matched” concluded Captain Haiti.
