Top L1 Blockchain Cardano Smashes Records: Weekly Commits Soar

Proof-of-stake (PoS) layer-1 (L1) blockchain protocol Cardano (ADA) has firmly established itself as the vanguard of development activity within the blockchain ecosystem. Recent data from crypto analytics platform IntoTheBlock (ITB) has revealed that Cardano’s GitHub commits have eclipsed those of its primary competitor, Ethereum (ETH), as well as other prominent layer-1 blockchain networks.

Between March 11 and 17, Cardano amassed an impressive 978,780 commits on GitHub, underscoring its dominance in developer engagement. In comparison, Ethereum trailed with 407,170 commits during the same period. Notably, other notable L1 protocols such as Avalanche (AVAX), Litecoin (LTC), and Tron (TRX) also garnered significant developer attention, albeit falling short of Cardano’s robust activity levels. Avalanche recorded 315,770 commits, while Litecoin and Tron logged 84,110 and 79,380 commits, respectively.

Developer activity serves as a pivotal barometer of a protocol’s potential, according to market experts. While not an absolute indicator, heightened commit counts often correlate with increased deployment of decentralized applications (dApps) and enhancements to existing infrastructure.
