IOHK Director Claims There Are Over 500 Projects Building On Cardano

Tim Harrison, the IOHK Director claims that there are over 500 projects being built on Cardano with the majority of them being in the NFT space so let’s read more today in our latest Cardano news.

Cardano’s network is attracting quite the interest at least according to the IOHK Director of Marketing and Communications. Back in September 2021, Cardano went through one of the most important mainnet upgrades dubbed Alonzo which was a part of the development cycle of the platform known as the Goguen era, and possibly the most important part was the integration of smart contracts.

Since then, the network went through other upgrades and saw important development as well. One of them was the first scaling solution based on ZK rollups dubbed Orbis. This also led to a multitude of projects building on Cardano according to IOHK’s Marketing and Communications Director, Tim Harrison. He said in a LinkedIn post:

“The Cardano ecosystem continues to grow, with now over 500 projects building on Cardano – from NFT collections to DeFi lending and new wallets. Props to all the IOG team that continues to drive the platform forward. It has been a remarkable journey to get here. And kudos to the innovative, passionate community of builders that has brought this project so far. We’re really just getting started, you know.”

Harrison attached a pie graph as well with the purported projects and where they are focused on showing that the NFT collections account for the biggest share.

As recently reported, The Cardano blockchain will have its first ZK Rollup layer 2 solution Orbis with the making goal to support DEFI applications and a thriving blockchain ecosystem. The official blog post by teh team behind the protocol explained that Orbis offers a level of scalability and transaction that is important for the blockchain to transform into a glboal financial system so similar to other zk-based solutions, the transactions will occur off-chain on the Orbis layer2. These will be joined together into one single ZK proof and broadcasted on the chain of the Cardano layer 1 and verified. The two main components of Orbis are the PRover and the Verifier. The off-chain system of Prover explained its function is to construct the ZKSNARKS proofs verifying the transactions and enabling users to examine the state of the rollup and post-transaction.
