In what felt inevitable, SundaeSwap’s Sunday testnet was delayed last night after the Cardano Dex’s DEV team discovered a bug.

“Might have to rebrand to MondaeSwap… In all seriousness, we’ve found a bug with our scoopers renewing scooper licenses,” SundaeSwap said via Twitter. The DEX added, “We are cleaning that up, and as soon as it’s completed testnet will be live for use.”

As expected, this led to some serious angst, like this from Twitter: “I think you guys just talk. Cardano is Just a joke. It has lost the confidence like we lost our capital. I wish it could moon but it is a daydream. Dexes on Cardano is a failed drama.”

Thankfully, just mere hours later, the team lived up to the MondaeSwap joke and then some. SundaeSwap announced that they are officially live and ready for users. Just in case you didn’t believe them, the team posted their genesis transaction.

It’s a surprisingly quick turnaround for Cardano. But then again, this is a development team building on Cardano. Not exactly fair to blame them for the sins of the father.

The team is encouraging users to connect their Nami wallets and play around with the Testnet in order to report bugs to the team.

Many had expected the worst – which isn’t unfair considering Cardano’s long history of delays – but thanks to a quick turn around from the SundaeSwap DEV team, the Cardano network lives to see another day.

Of course, the Cardano network wasn’t going anywhere, but it’s hard not to adopt a fatalist tone after reading replies to basically any Cardano-related tweet ever.

Here’s a great example from an anonymous Twitter user.

“this is the kind of things which gives discredit on #Cardano. Don’t ever announce a date or guarantee something you can’t say it’s 100% sure. At the current time, people just want to see Cardano to fail and attack it. Don’t provide opportunities. Please be serious.”

Yikes.

So far, the reviews are generally positive. In particular, the aesthetics are a lot more friendly and inviting than your average DEX.

There are some concerns over the Yami wallet and transactions taking a while, but nothing quite cataclysmic as of press time.

Despite the obviously great news — Cardano is one step closer to a DEX — so far, the results are mixed for Cardano’s price. The layer-1 is down 0.5 percent int he last 24 hours but up 0.5 in the last hour on the news. It’s trading in the $1.31 USD range, far below its all-time high of $3.10.

However, Cardano’s struggles mirror the rest of the market, which is down almost 1% (0.83%) in the last 24 hours. Remains to be seen how Cardano performs if SundaeSwap becomes the first DEX on Cardano, but it appears likely it will have a lot to do with how the market is fairing at the moment.
