Ethereum co-founder Fabian Vogelsteller has stirred up controversy by disputing the contributions of Charles Hoskinson, the creator of Cardano, to the Ethereum project.
In a recent tweet, Vogelsteller claimed that Hoskinson had “built literally nothing for ethereum that I am aware of” and should therefore be removed from the picture of Ethereum’s founders.
To correct this picture a little bit:@VitalikButerin is the ethereum founder, so he doesn’t count. @IOHK_Charles was never really a founder of ethereum. He built literally nothing for ethereum that I am aware of. He was just early on at the right place, at the time, hanging… https://t.co/zHFV4zLANR

Vogelsteller went on to clarify that his remarks were not intended to offend anyone, but were simply a statement of fact. He claimed to have been involved with Ethereum since before the network was launched and said he knew “very well who contributed what and when.”
In response, Hoskinson took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the matter. He appeared to take Vogelsteller’s comments in stride, sarcastically thanking him for his opinion on his worth and contributions. Hoskinson also pointed out that Switzerland, where he is based, did not “materialize out of the ether,” suggesting that his role in the project was more significant than Vogelsteller had suggested.
Thanks Fabian. Glad to get your opinion on my worth and contributions. I suppose Switzerland just materialized out of the ether. Also given my profound incompetence, I’d love to meet the people behind Cardano. Pretty cool project to just somehow self manifest

Hoskinson also took the opportunity to promote Cardano, his current project, describing it as a “pretty cool project to just somehow self-manifest.” While his comments were clearly intended as a dig at Vogelsteller, they also underscored the fact that Hoskinson has moved on to other projects since his time with Ethereum.
The dispute between Vogelsteller and Hoskinson highlights the sometimes contentious nature of the cryptocurrency industry. As these projects continue to evolve, there will undoubtedly be disagreements about who contributed what and who deserves credit for the successes of various projects. While such disputes may be frustrating for those involved, they also serve to keep the industry dynamic and innovative.
