E-Commerce Giant Amazon to Accept Crypto Payments

According to a London business newspaper City A.M report on Sunday, an anonymous source at the company said,

“This isn’t just going through the motions to set up cryptocurrency payment solutions at some point in the future – this is a full-on, well-discussed, integral part of the future mechanism of how Amazon will work.”

The Beginning with Bitcoin

The source added that integrating the largest cryptocurrency globally is just the first step in the future of payments at Amazon.

The company is going to add other established cryptocurrencies in the future such as Ethereum and Cardano. The project will not take a long time to roll ous as the company has been working on its cryptocurrency project for years.

Not only will it accept Bitcoin payments, but Amazon is also preparing to launch its own cryptocurrency next year.

Amazon’s Participation in the Cryptocurrency Payments is Coming

The information comes after a new posting appeared on the company’s job board last week for “Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead”.

The company is looking for candidates with strong expertise in blockchain, distributed ledgers, central bank digital currencies, and crypto more generally. The company also wants the person who is selected to help Amazon to develop a digital currency strategy and product roadmap.

This is not the first time that Amazon posted jobs for crypto pros. In February, it recruited a technical leader to help the process of developing its new platform, “Digital and Emerging Payments”.

Although Andy Jassy, CEO of the e-commerce giant, previously dismissed the importance of blockchain technology, two blockchain services were launched by Amazon Web Services in the past.
