Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson recently expressed admiration for Ripple CTO David Schwartz, calling him “super smart” and “really passionate.” During a live stream, Hoskinson highlighted Schwartz’s resilience and intelligence, emphasizing his positive experience in working with him. “Dave Schwartz is brilliant. He’s fun to work with, and I enjoy spending time with him,” Hoskinson said.

Ripple’s Resilience Amid Legal Challenges
Hoskinson also acknowledged Ripple’s ability to remain strong despite its ongoing legal battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Ripple has been under scrutiny since December 2020, when the SEC accused the company of conducting an unregistered securities offering by selling XRP tokens.

Although Ripple scored a partial victory in July 2023, with a federal judge ruling that XRP is not a security when sold on public exchanges, the case is far from over. Appeals and unresolved penalties continue to pose challenges.
Hoskinson applauded Ripple’s persistence, stating, “Even after lawsuits, delistings, and regulatory pressure, they’re still here. Their resilience shows they have a bright future.”
Turning Point in Ripple-Cardano Relations
Hoskinson’s recent comments mark a shift in his relationship with Ripple. He publicly apologized to the XRP community on November 10, signifying a new chapter of mutual respect and potential collaboration.
The Cardano founder confirmed meeting with Schwartz and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse to explore possible synergies between their ecosystems. These discussions have fueled speculation about a partnership between Cardano and Ripple.
In a December 8 interview, Hoskinson revealed that their conversation focused on integrating Ripple’s ecosystem with Cardano’s projects. Specifically, they discussed Cardano’s privacy-centric sidechain, Midnight, and its smart contract platform, Marlowe.

Hoskinson expressed interest in incorporating XRP into Midnight and suggested that XRP might align better with Marlowe’s functionalities than Cardano’s native token, ADA. Additionally, he floated the idea of integrating Ripple’s upcoming RLUSD stablecoin into Cardano’s blockchain.
While no official collaboration has been announced, Hoskinson’s comments signal growing alignment between Cardano and Ripple. With both ecosystems exploring innovative blockchain solutions, a partnership could unlock significant potential for the cryptocurrency industry.
