Today’s highlights: Hard fork September 1 is GO!! 🎉
At today’s meeting of the hard fork working group, which included representatives from the community, Intersect, Emurgo, the Cardano Foundation, and Input | Output, the group voted unanimously to initiate the hard fork known as Chang #1, which will take effect on the Cardano mainnet on September 1. This is the first of two hard forks in the Chang upgrade.
The members considered the readiness status of stake pool operators (SPOs), exchanges, decentralized applications (DApps), and the stability of the upgraded network.
SPO readiness is at 92% by stake and stable for several days
Exchange readiness is reported as being over 90% ready by liquidity.
The total value locked in DApps representing readiness is over 50%.
No critically severe issues have been raised.
Members from the hard fork working group will be on call and will closely monitor the progression through the hard fork.
The hard fork will occur on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at approximately 21:45 UTC. This marks the first major, irrevocable step in Cardano’s journey from already being one of the most decentralized blockchains to a fully decentralized ecosystem where the ada holders make all the decisions about the chain’s future.
An X space event on Sunday, September 1, will mark the upgrade. For more information, follow us on X, Discord, and LinkedIn.
The hard fork working group is here to help!
This week, the hard fork working group will hold two more open Q&As with DApps.
Please let us know if a specific reason or dependency prevents your DApp or project from upgrading. Contact us on X at @Intersectmbo or [email protected] as soon as possible. The hard fork working group will continue to review feedback daily.
