Public blockchain Network Cardano’s much-awaited Vasil hard fork has been delayed for a few more weeks, as per the recent update by the company.

Though the team is yet to specify the exact timeline and date of the launch, the technical manager of Input Output Global, Kevin Hammon, said that developers are fixing and thoroughly testing the system. Moreover, he added that it does not want to rush the process to ensure no major issues are left out as the network prepares for the upgrade.

He explained that “the team is working very hard to deliver the benefits of Vasil hard fork to the community.” Hammon added, “The good news is that this week we have just had a new 1.35.2 release that fixes issues that stake pool operators, DApp developers, internal testing, and others have identified. The goal is that it will flush out any issues as we go to the Vasil hard fork.”

No talented engineer will question this. This is a commonplace move when it comes to building reliable & secure systems.

Additionally, Hammond stated that 1.35.2 would only be posted on the testnet after the final benchmarking and testing.

Cardano hard fork delay reasons

IOG’s vice president of community and ecosystem, Tim Harrison, thinks the hard fork postponement will guarantee that exchanges and API developers are prepared to go through Vasil.

The developers aim for an 80 percent integration by liquidity for exchanges. They must have at least 75 percent of the node’s final code updated for stake pool operators (SPOs).

The Vasil upgrade is marketed as the most major network improvement since the introduction of staking via Shelley and essentially attempts to ratchet up performance and capabilities enhancements to Cardano.

Vasil is essentially built on top of the brand-new Cardano node version 1.35.0, which was just made public by the node team.

Notably, in October last year, Cardano launched the first testnet of the Alonzo Upgrade, as TheCoinRise reported.
