HBO Documentary Claims to Uncover Satoshi Nakamoto Identity
The special, airing Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST, has been highly anticipated because it promises new light on who is behind the pseudonym Nakamoto secret that has been kept under wraps since the person group first introduced Bitcoin to the world in 2009.
Hoback, previously known for unveiling the people behind the QAnon movement, this time allegedly shares new evidence to disclose Satoshi Nakamoto identity. However, not much is known about which evidence has been included in the documentary.
What started as a cryptographic experiment evolved into a trillion-dollar asset class, which started being used both as a currency and as an investment vehicle. There is so much speculation about the identity of Nakamoto, that has been ongoing for more than a decade.
Those who have consistently been mentioned as possibly being Nakamoto include Len Sassaman, Hal Finney, and Adam Back. While both Sassaman and Finney are now deceased and were indeed involved in the early days of Bitcoin, no concrete evidence has proven either of them to be Nakamoto. Meanwhile, Back, a well-recognized face in the crypto world, consistently denied he played a role in the origin of Bitcoin.
Forthcoming Movie Examines Rise of Bitcoin and Its Consequences
Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy Digital, said the impact on the market would be limited if the documentary actually points toward Sassaman as Nakamoto. Confirming Sassaman, who died in 2011, would reduce the fears that accompanied the potential movement of Nakamoto’s significant Bitcoin holdings, he said.
The documentary also considers the cultural and financial impact that Bitcoin has, its development into a decentralized multi-trillion-dollar asset, and speculations about its future role in the global economy.
